We will try to work with you to resolve any issues outside of what is covered here but Rules and Policies may change at our discretion dependent upon circumstances.
The campground assumes no responsibility for loss or damage through fire, theft, collision or otherwise.
ANYONE CAUSING A DISTURBANCE OR NOT CONFORMING TO CAMP RULES WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE – NO REFUNDS
Red Eagle is privately owned and the Management reserves the right to refuse service to anyone at any time.
- Screened in porch, except the Sandpiper.
- Comfortably furnished, modern and completely equipped for housekeeping.
- Hot and cold running water.
- Indoor bathrooms with at least 3 pieces (toilet, sink, shower).
- Three cottages have a 4 piece bathroom (toilet, sink, shower and tub).
- Fully equipped kitchens including full size electric refrigerators with freezer, propane range, built in cupboards and sinks, drip coffee-maker, toaster, kettle, microwave, cooking and eating utensils.
- Comfortable, queen, double box spring beds (blankets and pillows provided). Some with duvets.
- Modern propane furnaces with separate thermostat and ceiling fans.
- Colour TV, Satellite and BBQ [extra cost].
- Outdoor full-size propane barbeques and a picnic table.
- Fire pit at each cottage for those romantic evenings, or roasting marshmallows with the children.
- Free internet access via wi-fi service
If you are a citizen of the United States, you do not need a passport to enter Canada or the U.S. However, you should carry proof of your citizenship, such as a birth certificate, certificate of citizenship or naturalization, as well as a photo ID. If you are a permanent resident of the U.S., you should bring your Permanent Resident Card (i.e. green card) with you.
U.S. citizens returning to the U.S. from Canada are currently exempt from passport requirements.

Shady Point Resort is an intimate resort that offers relaxation and serenity in peaceful surroundings. To ensure the enjoyment of all our clients the number of day visitors will be kept to a minimum. There is a charge of $5.00 per visitor, per day and all visitors are expected to vacate the Resort by 10.00 p.m. unless prior arrangements have been made with the management.
Cell phone service is available in the area. Reception in and around the resort is generally reported as average to good.
The cottages do not have telephones. Over the years our guests have expressed a preference of not having telephones in the cottages. There is access to a payphone at the Liquor Store in the hamlet.
If a cancellation occurs, the deposit is refundable, minus a $30 administration fee, provided the cancellation is received 21 days prior to arrival date, except July and August in which case May 1st is the last date of refunds. No deductions will be made for late arrivals or early departures.
Hospital facilities are located in Peterborough (20 minute drive) from Shady Point Resort. The Jane Furber Clinic is in Lakefield (10 mins. away) & Information is provided in each cottage.
Due to the past infestation of invasive species, and the loss of many mature trees, we kindly ask that you do not bring firewood. You may purchase firewood sold in immediate area stores or alternatively, we sell firewood at $10.00 a large load. If you have any questions about firewood, please call.
We endeavor to provide a quiet and relaxing vacation for all our clients therefore we would very much appreciate if you do not bring Seadoos, dirt bikes or ATVs.
- Alternatively, bed Linens (sheets & pillowcases) are available.
- Bed Linen $10 per bed per stay.
- Towels (1 bath and 1 face) $10.00 per person per stay.
- Advance notice required, minimum of two weeks.
Check out time is 10.00 a.m. during peak times and 12.00 p.m. during the remainder of the season. Check with Management for check out time applicable to your stay. To ensure the cottage is ready for any incoming guests we ask that you adhere to current check out times. You are welcome to stay at the resort for a couple of hours and use the facilities after checking out of your cottage.
Check in time is 4 p.m. Arriving a couple hours early is not a problem, you are welcome to use the resort facilities while you wait for your cottage to become available.
Small dogs (Maximum 25lbs) are welcome based on prior arrangement with the management (maximum 1 pet per cottage). Pets may not sleep on the beds, should be leashed, kept quiet and not left alone at the Resort at any time. Dogs are not permitted in and around the beach and swimming area and you must “poop and scoop”. There is a $35.00 charge per pet per stay
The famous “Kawarthas” are one of Ontario’s most beautiful regions. Large and small lakes, many connected by locks or rivers, rolling farm lands and forest areas. Buckhorn Lake is on the Trent-Severn Waterway, midway between Lake Ontario and Georgian Bay, it’s elevation is about 600 feet above Lake Ontario. Hundreds of houseboats and pleasure craft make this trip each season.
